The second iteration of our ‘Unfolding the Park’ series.
A guided walk through the Queen Victoria and Kings Domain parklands. Speakers from varied disciplines (landscape, horticulture, architecture, heritage and research, geology and art) chose a site, plant or object within the Kings Domain parklands to act as a vector from which they could trace-back or speculate-forward. These short vignettes make visible the non-linear history — partial and disjointed — of this site.
This iteration included a guided meditation, a walk that revealed remnant rock in a constructed lake, a performance exploring the networks that surround us (from trees to 5G), a discussion around grottos and their place in queer history and a examination of role of landscape within 1980's malls in Australia.
